An Ideal Husband

By Oscar Wilde

Produced: November, 2008
Bridgewater State College
Director: Suzanne Ramczyk
Scenery: Arthur Dirks
Facility: Campus Center Auditorium

Oscar Wilde is a demanding playwright if you take it seriously. It's all about language and attitude and style. The director has much enthusiasm and expertise in style, and it was a priority for her in the properties.

The play takes place in several environments - three rooms in the Chiltern house and one in Lord Goring's apartment. Because the play was to be done in basic thrust staging, the stage configuration remained unchanged. Furniture was redressed and lighting adjusted for each room as necessary.

The play also was performed in February 2009 at American College Theater Festival Region I in Fitchburg, MA, where it was well received and given top award.
