Hotel d'Amour

A musical adaptation of the French farce A Flea In Her Ear by Georges Feydeau
Book and translation by Bruce Helbig
Music & Lyrics by Gregg Opelka

Produced: October, 2000
Bridgewater State College Theatre
Director: Suzanne Ramczyk
Scenery: Arthur Dirks
Facility: Campus Center Auditorium
Notes:

This was a very challenging piece. Mounted on the stage with the audience, it remained a very large show. Doors and masking are demanded for this farce. It was a musical, requiring a 5-piece ensemble, which was masked behind the arch opening. Originally I had thought to keep them in full view for the show, but we feared distraction. This was a show all about sex with no sex, so the set had to reek of it. One setting served for apartment and hotel by changing the dressing on the turntable and some trims. The sketch was a quickie watercolor for the director (the color change is due to merge of 2 scans).
