Notes:

This show has its detractors, but it was quite fun to design. The aesthetic was about real spaces. The framing consisted of a Rydell High entrance on the SL portal and a piece of the gym with a banner on the SR portal. The orchestra was onstage elevated 6 feet behind the action, masked behind a giant juke box, complete with appropriate selections. It was densely scrimmed so the conductor could follow without a video feed, but we fought stand lights, as you can see. The drive-in split center on two wagons and reversed for interior and exterior. I stole the washroom idea from the original production of How to Succeed in Business when I designed it in 1979.
