Dick Whittington And His Amazing Cat
By Pat Hume
Produced: March, 1987
The scenic idea in this show was a turntable that really was a giant periaktos. Each side was a different room of the same house, and played against a painted drop. An additional wagon filled out one or two scenes. These children shows had a one-hour time frame because of the bus schedules for the schools. The mechanism worked out fairly well, although it was a hefty job to turn and on the whole the stage came off as a bit spare. I had to design it in a paper model to make it work.
